- Comparative and World Literature
- Individualized Plan of Study
Students may focus their course work on one of three specializations - American literature, British literature, or comparative and world literature - or create an individualized plan of study. The program's structure allows students to work toward the master's degree part-time as they maintain their professional and personal obligations.
MALit faculty are cutting-edge thinkers from a wide range of academic areas that include African American studies, classics, comparative literature, English, French, German, Italian, Latin American studies, Slavic languages and literature and theater. Committed to teaching and research, faculty members share with students not only their knowledge but also a valuable network of resources. In capstone projects students are able to work one-on-one with experts in their fields.
Courses are designed to give students a broad and stimulating foundation in literary study, and students from a wide variety of backgrounds bring fresh perspectives to discussions. The MALit program gives students a foundation in critical analysis that is relevant to many goals: pursuing advanced degrees, improving secondary teaching and developing professionally in areas ranging from advertising to law.
